Singapore-based ISEC Healthcare Opens Yangon Centre in Joint Venture with Local Firm Global Technology, Investing USD 1.5 Million

International Eye Specialist Center Opens in Myanmar

Singapore-based investment corporation ISEC Healthcare has opened ISEC Eye Centre in Yangon, which becomes the first private international eye specialist hospital in Myanmar, in a joint venture with local tech firm Global Technology.

The opening ceremony of the eye specialist hospital was held at Melia Yangon Hotel on 6 December, and it is set to enter the fast-growing healthcare industry of Myanmar.
“Our ambition is to be able to provide easily available and proper world-standard eye health services. We expect our hospital run in Yangon to protect and improve vision of the millions of Myanmar people,” said Dr Wong Jun Shyan, Chief Executive Officer of ISEC.

ISEC Yangon Centre is located on Min Ye Kyaw Swar Road in Lanmadaw Township, and the hospital offers healthcare services for examination and surgery of cataracts, intraocular lens implants (ICL), retina, cornea, other retinal diseases, glaucoma, uveitis, eyelid ptosis, blocked tear ducks, eye socket, etc. And it also provides services for oculoplastic surgery, examination and surgery of strabismus squint, paediatric ophthalmology, and other eye health issues.

Daw Khin Ei Ei, a member of the board of directors of ISEC Myanmar Co., Ltd, said that USD 1.5 million has been invested for construction of ISEC Yangon Centre and implementation of the initial works.

“We have made a first-phase investment of USD 1.5 million as an authorised capital. It is for construction of ISEC Yangon Centre and first year operation of the centre,” said Daw Khin Ei Ei.

ISEC Healthcare has planned to expand its Myanmar hospitals to other 5 major cities in addition to Yangon, and it is expected to construct more ISEC centres in Mandalay, Magway, Pathein, Mawlamyine, and Taunggyi in coming two years.

ISEC Healthcare is a Singapore-based investment corporation, and is operating eye specialist hospitals in Singapore and Malaysia. It has now opened its first hospital in Myanmar.

To come in and run business in Myanmar, ISEC Healthcare applied for permission of the joint venture at Yangon Region Investment Committee in 2018, and was granted the permission in November that year.
